The Student-Centered Reporting Solution is built on the Ed-Fi Data Standard

Using this data standard offers the following benefits:

  • Each district can continue to use its existing systems and still be able to leverage the reporting solutions offered as long as their vendors are Ed-Fi compliant or willing to work with us.

  • Connectors to vendor data can be built once and then used by all participating districts.

  • Custom data capture tools, such as surveys, can be built once and then used by all participating districts.

  • Reports can be built once and then used by all districts

  • Reports built by other Ed-Fi collaboratives can often be easily added to our solution and then used by all districts.

  • Data collection methods and tools can be validated by researchers because we have a sufficiently large dataset to do so, improving the quality of insights generated over time.

  • Student data privacy can be protected because all data is stored securely and transferred securely - avoiding the data breaches common when information must be manually extracted from systems and shared with users.

In short, the data standard allows education agencies to pool their limited resources so that they can get a greater number of higher quality reports to support the transformation of teaching and learning in their system.
